What is Chi Kung?

Chi Kung or Qigong has developed in China over two thousand years.  It uses a wide variety of standing forms and movements  to  access and move Chi (vital energy) around the body.  It has its roots in Traditional Chinese Medicine and many of the forms are specifically related to opening up the channels and meridians relating to particular organs and energetic pathways in the body. 

Chi Kung takes many different forms as it has been practiced and taught in China and worldwide over the centuries but in essence it involves a series of simple, gentle movements which when repeated move Chi around the body.  Forms are often inspired by the movements of animals and the elements - earth, water, metal, wood  and  fire,  and can have a powerful meditative quality allowing you come into relationship with your body in a new way.
