What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is type of bodywork which accesses the body through the feet. In essence there are reflex areas in the feet, hands and ears which correspond to all of the glands, organs and parts of the body.  Stimulating these reflexes can help many health problems in a natural way by activating nerve and blood supply to organs thereby encouraging the body to treat itself.

Reflexology is an excellent all round boost to the system but is particularly effective in treating toxicity, hormonal imbalances, fluid retention, sinusitis, constipation, back/hip/shoulder pain, trapped nerves, insomnia and other stress related conditions.

Reflexology increases vitality and sense of wellbeing.

´I have received five sessions of reflexology from Alice, the first time when I had a nagging lower back problem whilst sailing.  I had been treated for the same problem previously through osteopathy  and physiotherapy but the problem always reoccurred.

I had never had reflexology before but was willing to give anything a try.  My first impression was that it hurt.. alot! Alice explained what she was doing and the part of the body she was working on through my feet.  She immediately put me at ease, friendly, yet utterly profeesional and knowledgeable .

I now look forward to my sessions; my back pain which had plagued me on and off for years has never come back.  I now enjoy the sessions as more of a grounding of my body, almost a keep fit session without having to move!

I would thoroughly recommend Alice as a reflexologist.´

What does a Reflexology session involve?

You take off your shoes and socks and sit in a comfortable chair with the lower part of your legs and feet raised on a special stool (portaped).  Alice uses massage to help relax the ankles and feet and then using either thumb or knuckles will apply pressure over the different reflexes of the feet and toes.

Certain reflexes can be quite painful but the pain goes as soon she moves from the area.  As the treatment progresses Alice can identify those areas of the body that the reflexes relate to which can be a useful point of reference for clients.

´I am a solo sailor from Sweden. .  I arrived in Nuku Hiva, Marquesas having done in my left shoulder and upper back climbing tup the mast and working on my forestay when out at sea.  It was 2-3 weeks before making landfall in the Marquesas and I had shooting pain down my left arm and my back was constantly hurting making sleep a problem.  I couldn´t use my left arm effectively.

Alice offered me refexology as soon as she heard my story.  Immediately afterwards it was more painful and then there was a great improvement.  She gave me four treatments in the Marquesas and it was worth the pain because afterwards the pain went I was able to use my left arm normally and I was able to sleep.

The problem returned when I sailed from the Marquesas to Tahiti but when I arrived there Alice gave me a couple more treatments and since then I have been fine.

I warmly recommend Alice as a reflexologist´
